Nearly 6.5m cellphones imported in 6 months
TEHRAN - Over 6.435 million cell phones worth $1.344 billion were imported into the country in the first six months of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-September 22), Tasnim news agency reported.
As reported, of the total imported phones, 6.168 million worth $1.185 billion were imported into the country by commercial importers and 266,544 phones worth $158.403 million were imported by passengers.
Customs statistics show that the import of mobile phones in the previous Iranian year 1401 (ended on March 20) was 14,315,000 units, of which 13,764,000 units were imported commercially and 550,000 units were imported by passengers.
Also, the value of the mobile phone imports by commercial companies in 1401 was $2.871 billion and by passengers was $346.73 million.
